When you sit down at your computer and do a Google search, you almost have instantly a list of results from all over the web. Searching on the web is like looking in a very large book. When you perform a Google search, it aims to determine the most relevant search results to be returned to you. Simply type whatever comes to mind in the search box, click on the Google Search button, and Google will search for the pages that are relevant to your query.


Two advices for a better search:

1)Keep it simple. 
2)Describe what you need with as few terms as possible. All words in the search box are used, each additional word limits the results.

Google has many special features to help you to find exactly what you're looking for. Some of our most popular features are listed below.

Everyday Essentials

Weather: to see the weather for any city, type "weather" followed by the city and state, zip code, or city and country.

Stock Quotes: Google offer this feature to see current market data for a given company.

Time: to see the time in many cities around the world, type in "time" and the name of the city.

Music: want to listen to music, search for your favorite artist, just type it in the Google search

Sunrise & Sunset: beautiful! to see the precise times of sunrises and sunsets, type "sunrise" or "sunset" followed by the city name.

Reference tool

Calculator: to use the calculator function, enter the calculation into the search box.

Book Search: if you’re looking for  a book, you can enter the name of the author or book title into the search box.

People Profiles: If you're looking for someone, simply enter the name of that person in the Google search.

Choosing Keywords

Dictionary Definitions: to see a definition for a word or phrase, simply type the word "define" then a space, then the word(s) you want defined.

Spell Checker: Google’s spell checking software automatically checks whether your query uses the most common spelling of a given word.

Local Search: if you’re looking for a store, restaurant, or other local business you can search for the category of business and the location and Google will give you results, along with a map, reviews, and contact information.

Movie Showtimes: to find reviews and showtimes for movies playing near you, type "movies" or the name of a current film into the Google search box.

Health Search

Health Conditions
To see information about a common disease or symptom, enter it into the search box and Google will return the beginning of an expert summary.

Medications: to see information about a prescription drugs, enter the drug name into the search box.

Trip Planning

Flight Tracking: to see flight status for arriving and departing flights, type in the name of the airline and the flight number into the search box.

Currency Conversion: simply enter the conversion you’d like done into the Google search box

Map: looking for a map? Type in the name of a location and the word "map" and Google will return a map of that location.

Search by Number

Package Tracking: you can track packages by typing the tracking number for your UPS, Fedex or USPS package directly into the search box.

Patent Numbers: to search for U.S. patents, enter the word "patent" followed by the patent number into the Google search box.

Area Code: to see the geographical location for any U.S. telephone area code, just type the three-digit area code into the Google search box and hit the Enter key or click the Google Search button.
